Cimatron has more than 20 years of experience in the field of creating software tools for the manufacturing, toolmaking and NC Programming Industry. The Cimatron OLS project involved the design and development of a 3-tier web-based system to support sales and license-management processes.
The application facilitates the order workflow, license and key-codes processing, the management of third-party royalties and of provider-specific price lists. The assignment involved the migration of the legacy database from MS Access to MS SQL DB server. An interface was provided to allow for data exchange with the ERP system used by Cimatron (SAP).
The OLS solution supports multiple access and permission levels. Its architecture is based on 2 web servers communicating with a shared database server. One of the servers is located inside Cimatron’s local network (Internal Web Server), while the second server is located in the DMZ Zone – the external Cimatron network. Off-site users, such as providers and distributors, access the application through the external server, via a secured HTTPS connection. In-house users access the OLS system via the internal server.
The platform supports English and Hebrew and can search for data in both languages.
The project is based on .NET Framework 1.1, AJAX and MS SQL Server 2000, featuring an interface to the SAP ERP system.
