Mindscape, previously known as The Learning Company, publishes and distributes educational, lifestyle, games and value software in France, UK, Germany, Holland, Spain, Asia, Australia and Latin America.
The assignment involved the development of a dynamic multi-lingual e-commerce web platform along with a web-based administration console for managing and updating contents. The system consists of multiple web sites manipulated by means of a unified back-office that allows for the management of on-line contents, sales and promotions.
The Mindscape web system features a user-centric ordering process, integrated online secure payments systems (Bibit, MultiBase, PayVision) and automatic e-mail notifications. Multiple marketing tools have been integrated to cater for the needs of promotion campaigns, affiliate sites and the Mindscape Club.
The administration module provides functionalities for managing the product catalogue and site contents, for retrieving business-specific statistics, and for the creation of new satellite web-sites based on predefined templates.
Each Mindscape subsidiary is furnished with an independent database and back-end system. The main back-end system can be used for managing several independent web sites that share information, such as product catalogues, press releases, technical support, etc.
Via an automated web-based process the e-commerce system communicates with the client’s JD Edwards ERP solution. The architecture is based on Component Object Model (COM) objects that boost performance and facilitate the purchasing process.
The Mindscape platform makes use of ASP.Net, XSL, XML, Component Object Model and MS SQL database with multilingual support of English, French, German, Dutch and Spanish.
